About

ThirstyBird was dreamed up over a few beers between a couple of mates at a classic Kiwi BBQ during the summer of 2023. The idea was straightforward – to make great hats we ourselves would wear, and that other people would love too.

With this in mind, our collection is driven by the desire for that rarest of commodities in this day and age; authenticity. This is reflected in our simple, yet refined designs that employ a classic aesthetic while utilising innovation in contemporary textiles.

We aren’t here to preach to you that buying ethical apparel is somehow a silver bullet to monumental environmental challenges. At the same time, informed sustainability is still important to us here at ThirstyBird, which is why we have been discerning when choosing the materials in our range.

ThirstyBird’s corduroy hats are made of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (try saying that fast three times!). This amazing material means that each hat is made up of approximately 3x330mls recycled plastic bottles – pretty buzzy stuff.

Our other hats are made of a 90% linen / 10% cotton blend. Linen’s origins lie in the flax plant, one of the strongest and most durable natural fibers on Earth. This means that both your ThirstyBird hat and the environment stay in good nick for longer – killing two birds with one stone.

Always a pleasure, never a chore.
